On 30 June, a total of eight passenger buses running on Yangon-Monywa road left Yangon. While the passenger busses were passing near Nga-Shan village of Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region, PDF terrorists launched remote-mine attacks against and opened fire on the passenger busses. Due to the attack, one woman passenger was killed while one monk, 13 men and 10 women got injured.
When security forces in Monywa and Chaung-U townships went to the scene to undertake necessary security tasks and rescue operations for victims, they exchanged fire with PDF terrorists who had already positioned themselves near the scene. Following the terrorists’ retreat in disorder, security personnel seized 30 unexploded improvised explosives.
The injured victims were transported to Monywa Public Hospital for undergoing medical treatment. Sagaing Region Chief Minister and other officials have provided arrangement for necessary medical treatment and cash assistance.
As PDF terrorists willfully opened fire on innocent passengers who are not connected with military affairs that led to fatalities, measures are being taken to defeat terrorists. Moreover, security personnel, in collaboration with responsible citizens, are stepping security tasks up to keep public travelling safe, reports say.
