On 26 June 2024, the UN Special Rapporteur’s report accused international banks, State-owned banks, and several local private banks of facilitating transactions that violate human rights in Myanmar, urging immediate action.
The Central Bank of Myanmar, Myanmar Banks Association, State-owned banks, and private banks released a statement on 28 June 2024, strongly objecting to the UN Special Rapporteur’s report as it had a considerable impact on the interests of Myanmar citizens and the relations between Myanmar and global countries.
The Myanmar Press Council, Young Men’s Buddhist Association-YMBA (Central), Myanmar Interfaith Dialogue Group (Central), Thananta Dhamma Palaka (Hindu) Association, Union of Myanmar Methodist Church (Lower Myanmar), Islamic Religious Affairs Council Myanmar, Pinnaygon Yakhine Jaame Mosque, Buthidaung-Maungtaw Regional Development Association, Myanmar Evangelical Christian Alliance, Deliverance Church (Yangon), All Myanmar Hindu Central Council, Faith Evangelical Church (Bago), All Myanmar Tamil Hindu Foundation (HQ), Myanmar Music Association (Central), Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central), Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization, Myanmar Comedians Association, Myanmar Writers’ Association, Myanmar Artists Organization (Central) and Myanmar Sports Media Federation respectively issued statements supporting the objection to the UN Special Rapporteur’s report stated by the Central Bank of Myanmar, Myanmar Banks Association, State-owned banks and private banks, it is reported.
