At the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, U Thein Sein, former President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, left Nay Pyi Taw to attend the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in the People’s Republic of China on 27 June by Special Flight.
President of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony on 28 June. Former President U Thein Sein was accompanied by U Thant Kyaw, Chairman of the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), U Tin Oo, Chairman of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, Daw Than Than Nu, Chairperson of the U Nu-Daw Mya Yi Foundation, other officials. Also present at the opening ceremony were 20 former Heads of State and Heads of Government and representatives of international and regional organizations, diplomats, scholars, Media and Business communities from 100 countries.
Former President U Thein Sein, Mr. Nong Due Manh, former Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, former President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr. Mulatu Teshome Wirtu, former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Dominique Marle Francois Galouzeau de Villepin, former Prime Minister of French Republic attended a luncheon hosted by Mr. Wang Yi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Former President U Thein Sein gave a remark on the vital initiative of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence for world peace, peaceful settlement of the disputes between the countries which adopt the said-Principles and the vital role of the Principles for world peace under the global changing circumstances, it is reported.
