UEC Chairman and Union Ministers Receive Indian Ambassadors

Chairman of Union Election Commission (UEC) U Ko Ko, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant received Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur at the respective Ministries on 24 June.

  • During the meeting between UEC Chair and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, they cordially discussed matters related to endurance of friendship between the two countries, election-related activities, and cooperation regarding technical and human resource development.
  • During the meeting between Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, both sides discussed matters pertaining to promotion of cooperation in economic and investment, export-import process, and financial payment between Myanmar and India.
  • During the meeting between Union Minister for Construction and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, both sides cordially and frankly exchanged views on the development of the road and communications sector, development of border trade and a fast and smooth flow of goods, upgrade of the Paletwa-Zorampu Road and the Yekyi-Kalewa road section aided by India (Grant Aid) that aims to develop tourism industry for further improvement of the socioeconomic life of local people, and work plans to be carried out regarding the maintenance of 69 bridges on the Tamu-Kyikone-Kalewa Road.

Also present at the meetings were senior officials of the Ministries and officials of Embassy of India attended the respective meetings, reports say.
