During five-month period from 1st of January to 31st of May 2024, more than 100,000 foreign tourists visited Myanmar through the Yangon International Airport, and comparing to the corresponding period last year, nearly 1,000 tourists visited Myanmar more this year. Most of them who came to Myanmar via Yangon International Airport were from Thailand and China, and they entered Myanmar with e-Visa, according to the source from Hotels and Tourism Department in Yangon Region.
Among the visitors, Thai tourists mostly visited Shwedagon Pagoda, Botahtang (Kyaikdeatt) Pagoda, Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, Thanlyin and Bago. Most of Chinese visitors came to Myanmar for work with Business Visa. In addition to, tourists from Russia, Japan and other foreign countries also visited Myanmar. For the time being, it is rainy season in Myanmar. Thus, the number of foreign tourists who visit to beaches become less but more in the trips to Bagan, Nyang-U and suchlike destinations, reports say.
