Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his entourages, Mandalay Region Chief Minister, the commander of Central Command and officials, inspected the Tatmadaw Textile Factory (Meiktila) in Meiktila of Mandalay Region on 17 June.
First, the factory manager U Naing Lin reported to the Senior General on the operational state of the factory at the meeting hall of the factory. In his response to the report, the Senior General stressed the salient following points:
- It is needed to produce quality threads to meet the local demand instead of exporting cotton to foreign markets.
- As the factory can manufacture various textiles including mosquito nets, blanket and bed sheet at home, it is necessary to reduce imports through manufacturing the products to meet local demand.
- Efforts must be made for producing high quality textiles with the use of domestic cotton.
- If the factory manufactures threads and textile required for MSME industries to meet the demands at home, import volume of textile can be reduced.
Then, the Senior General inspected quality of cotton and textiles for uniforms displayed in the hall. Next, the Senior General went on a tour round the construction site of Yarn Spinning and Dyeing Factory and inspected the factories being constructed as well as the installation of machinery. Afterwards, the Senior General coordinated the efforts by the officials and met the needs, it is reported.
