On 26 January, a massive number of PNLO allied with PDF terrorists raided te security posts in Moebye, Pekhon, Loikaw, and Demawhso of Kayah State. Additionally, they committed terrorist acts such as extrajudicial killings of innocent residents, arson attacks and bomb attacks against residential houses and departmental infrastructure in order to paralyze government administrative machinery. Furthermore, the combined terrorist groups of PNLO and PDF conducted continuous sabotages in the areas, blocking the route of Hopong-Banyin-Hsihseng-Loikaw.
Therefore, the Tatmadaw has regained control over the said-areas following 87 engagements between the Tatmadaw and the terrorist groups. Security forces are going on pursue of its operation around the areas beyond the town. On a timely manner, authorities are overseeing habilitation works for towns and villages destroyed by terrorists and insurgents.
At present, Loikaw is in the state of normality, and people are living peacefully. Collective cleaning work has been conducted to open temporary market for local residents as Thirimingala (central) market was destroyed by terrorists and to clean pagodas, bridges and roads. Local people, families of military personnel, departmental staff and security personnel conducted such rehabilitation works in the said-town, reports say.
