Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Inspects Progress in the Implementation of Thilawa Multi-Agriculture and Livestock Zone

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by entourages, inspected the progress in the implementation of the Thilawa Multi-Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone of Myanmar Economic Corporation between Yangon River and Hmawun Creek in Kyauktan Township in Yangon Region on 8 June.

Firstly, at the briefing hall of the zone, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister heard sector-wise reports on respective sectors presented by Chairman of the Myanmar Economic Corporation Lt-General Nyo Saw and officials. After hearing the reports, the Senior General said as follows:

  • Establishment of such agriculture and livestock breeding zones within Yangon Region aims to ensure the sufficiency of meat, fish, and seasonal crops, balancing demand and supply due to the region’s large population and numerous factories and industries, and controlling the prices of essential goods.
  • The primary goal is not profit but to enable the people of Yangon Region to purchase meat, fish, and seasonal crops at affordable prices, urging for more successful implementation.
  • As efforts are being made to produce products from agriculture and livestock zones to flow into people directly for declining commodity prices, it is necessary to contact the Yangon City Development Committee and convenient shops of the military command headquarters.
  • If Myanmar produces products for local food security, it will have a plan to export frozen meat and fish to neighbouring countries and regional countries.
  • Therefore, efforts must be made to meet the needs of domestic consumers and work towards exporting high quality agricultural products abroad.
  • In carrying out livestock activities, it is necessary to use modern techniques rather than relying on traditional methods.
  • The country should continuously study and emulate the agricultural and liverstock farming methods of other countries that are successful in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

After that, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party inspected samples of fish species being bred at the Thilawa Multi-Agriculture and Livestock Zone and eggs, duck eggs and dairy products produced from agricultural and livestock farming businesses, hatching and breeding of fingerlings in the zone, duck farming and fish farming tasks. Later, the Senior General left instructions on the systematic process of livestock breeding tasks.
