Union Ministers Receive Russian Ambassador

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin separately received H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, at the respective Ministries in Nay Pyi Taw on 7 June.

• During the meeting between Union Minister for Information and Russian Ambassador, they frankly and cordially exchanged views on media sector cooperation, collaboration between The Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper and Russia’s Sputnik Information Agency, the MoU signing of Russia-Myanmar television sectors, exchange of visits by media personnel from the two countries, further promotion of the tourism sector between Myanmar and Russia, and other cross-sectoral collaborative efforts.
• During the meeting between Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture and Russian Ambassador, the two parties exchanged views on the attendance of Myanmar monks and people at the second Traditional Buddhism, signing agreement to launch the construction of the Russian Orthodox Church in Yangon, agreement on cooperation between the Russian Federation National Library and Myanmar National Library, and enhancement of cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, heads of departments and diplomats from the Russian Federation Embassy also attended the meetings, it is reported.
