Measures undertaken to Drill Deep Wells in Mature Oil Fields for Increasing Production

A workshop on technology to drill successfully deep wells in mature oil fields for increasing production took place at the Ministry of Energy on 30 May, with the attendance of Union Energy Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing.

During the workshop, Union Minister said as follows:

• Drilling deep wells in mature oil fields and extracting oil and natural gas is a part.
• In the history of oil production, it has been found that production was not successful until reaching the promising hydrocarbon-bearing sands located deep underground.
• It has already approved two new wells that can produce oil, to be implemented in the fiscal year of 2024-2025. It needs to set historical record by drilling deepest wells.
• And, the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise drills those two wells, as well as, experts from the MPRL E&P Company shared technologies and experiences.

Also present were permanent-secretary, directors-general, departmental heads and service personnel from the Ministry of Energy, officials from the MPRL E&P company, and experts.
