Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met the members of Magway Region Government, and district-level departmental officials at the City Hall of Magway on 24 May, and discussed about regional development measures. Also present were Council Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, council members Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, union ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, regional government members and district-level officials.
First, Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin reported on undertakings of the regional development measures and further plans while the region-level departmental officials on the ongoing measures for the regional development and requirements of the relevant departments. After that, Union Ministers made sector-wise explanations regarding the reports.
Later, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister stressed the following points:
- As some townships of Magway Region were involved on the chart of the world’s hottest cities.
- All villages have to grow at least two acres of trees to reduce temperature and improve climatic conditions. It is also necessary to grow trees in the compound of the residential houses and along the roadside.
- Installation of air conditioning system by utilizing the solar energy will combat the intense summer heat.
- A country has to operate its political, economic and defence driving forces for its progress and of them economic driving force plays the pivotal role, as the other ones development depends on its functionality. Only when the economic driving force improves will it contribute to political and defence driving forces.
- Magway region has favourable conditions for agricultural tasks successfully. It mainly cultivates cotton, peanut and sesame.
- There are multiple cropping and mixed cropping systems in agricultural business. Multiple cropping can develop the production. It is necessary to boost the multiple cropping system in rice cultivation, and promote the per acre yield.
- It is necessary to systematically utilize the Ayeyawady River to operate river water pumping projects with solar energy.
- Oil crops must be grown to meet the target sown acreage in Magway Region to earn income from the oil crops.
- It is necessary to encourage the cotton plantation, and focus on the development of industrial and clothing businesses based on cotton products.
- Crop pattern for cropping will help develop the industrial businesses based on crops. So, it needs to put into consideration.
- Goat breeding, which is thriving in the region, can be carried out and it was learnt that Hteinsan goat, which is bred in Magway Region, can produce a lot of meat. Breeding layers, broilers, pigs and cattle must be carried out successfully.
- The government has been taking measures to minimize grudges and impacts in restoring regional stability. While education is being encouraged, healthcare services are being provided for the people consistently.
- As every citizen is responsible for national defence, the People’s Military Service Law was enacted for a long time and the law has been activated recently.
- The aim is to safeguard Our Three Main National Causes and the law is in progress.
- Measures will be taken to not to put burden on the people and the country by recruiting a certain number of people within the eligible age to perform duties within the limited period.
- As there were incitements based on fake news and opinions without studying the provision of the law, relevant departments are required to understand the law themselves and take measures to enable the public to get correct perceptions.
- If local departmental staff and residents make concerted efforts to make the region a reliable one for the country, the regional will be a such one.
After that, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister presented K280 million for the development of libraries in Magway Region and 5,500 copies of books and journals to the regional chief minister. After the meeting, the Senior General cordially greeted the attendees.
Later, the Senior General and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, accompanied by entourages, inspected the progress made in the construction of the Sasana Beikman in Minbu. They then paid homage to Shinpin Sekkeinte Pagoda, the pride of Minbu and Myathalun Pagoda, the pride of Magway, and donated cash for the all-round renovation of the pagodas.
