On the Buddha Day of Kason full moon day of 1386, ME that falls on 22 May, the Kason water pouring ceremony was held at Maha Bodhi trees in the precinct of Maravijaya Pagoda, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. Likewise, the Kason Water Pouring Ceremony was also held at Maha Bodhi trees at Lawka Chantha Sutaungpyae Pagoda in Zeyathiri Township.
The ceremonies were attended by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Prime Minister and wife, SAC members and wives, Union-level dignitaries, Union Ministers and wives, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, officials and members of religious associations. They poured water on Maha Bodhi banyan trees at designated places and sprinkled scented water on them.
The special feature of full moon day of Kason is that it is the birthday, the day of attained enlightenment as Lord Buddha, and the day of died attaining parinirvana for not only Lord Gautama Buddha but also other Lord Buddhas. Against this backdrop, the full moon day of Kason is designated as "Buddha Day". Kason water pouring ceremony is an enjoyable religious ceremony and a cultural heritage where people perform meritorious deeds. Usually, people sprinkled scented water on Bodhi trees and made their thrones look pleasant a day before the ceremony, it is reported.
