The festivals of pouring water on Kason banyan trees were held in respective regions and states on the occasion of full moon day of Kason (Buddha Day), 1386 ME. On the occasion of Kason Buddha Day, many devotees of Buddhism dedicating to the Lord Buddha: are keeping the Sabbath; reciting Paṭṭhāna and paritta; donating rice alms to members of Sangha; doing meritorious deeds at pagodas, stupas and monasteries. Moreover, devotees poured water on Maha Bodhi banyan trees at pagodas, stupas and temples, and sprinkled scented water on them.
In commemoration of changing to New Sasana Era of 2568 year, the ceremony of donating rice alms, offerings, medicines and cash for nine prerequisites to 10,272 members of the Sangha from four areas (Pyins) of Mandalay city were held at the designated places simultaneously. Mandalay Region Chief Minister, Central Command commander and regional government members, and well-wishers donated offertories to the members of the Sangha.
Likewise, a total of 1,080 ministerial staff and students went round the Uppatasanti Pagoda and Maravijaya Buddha Image in clockwise direction holding light candles.
