Myanmar-India Science & Tech Cooperation Joint Working Group Meeting Held

The joint working group meeting on Myanmar-India science and technology cooperation was held on 16 and 17 May at the Ministry of Science and Technology Office. They discussed the events in science and technology fields that will allow cooperation between Myanmar and India in the future, workshops, plans for courses, the possibility of joint projects and joint activities, and the establishment of joint research projects in science and technology.

  • During the meeting,  they discussed plans for renewable energy research, metals and element research on electric vehicle batteries and research on electric vehicles and accessories, development activities and technology dissemination activities and Geospatial Technology, unmanned aerial systems, food, medicine and agriculture, including biotechnology, nanotechnology, blockchain, research activities on robotics and AI virtual reality and augmented reality (3D imaging technologies), green technologies, joint projects to collaborate on Smart University technologies, joint workshops, ability to organize conferences and training, science and technological strategic planning and analysis.

The meeting was presided over by Ministry of Science and Technology Permanent Secretary Dr. Sai Kyaw Naing Oo, and Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of India Director-General Dr. Praveen Kumar Somasundaram acted as co-chairs. Members of the Myanmar-India Science and Technology Cooperation Joint Task Force, directors-general, representatives from the Indian Department of Science and Technology, representatives of the Indian Embassy in Yangon and representatives of the Indian Liaison Office in Nay Pyi Taw attended the meeting, reports say.
