Tatmadaw Successfully Performs Sixth Liver Transplant Surgery

Tatmadaw has achieved significant milestones in the field of liver transplant surgery: the first successful procedure was performed in 2022 with two patients, followed by the second, third, and fourth procedures in 2023 with nine patients involving three patients each time. In 2024, the fifth procedure was conducted successfully with three patients.

Now, the liver transplant team, which is comprised of the Tatmadaw liver transplant team and Indian liver transplant team, has conducted its sixth surgery, which also has three patients. The first day of the liver transplant procedure took place on 11 May, the second n 12 May and the third on 13 May at the Special Treatment Centre of the No. 1 Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed) in Mingaladon Township.

Both the donor and recipient are reported to be in good health post-surgery, under close monitoring by relevant specialists, medical officers, and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
