A ceremony to inaugurate the fully-renovated museum which is a replica of Haw Palace of Kengtung Saopha (Shan Chief of former times) Sao Kawng Kiao Intaleng took place at the land of Haw Palace in Haw Palace Park on Nawngtong lake circular road in Ward 5 of Kengtung, Shan State (East) on 12 May. It was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, council members and wives, Union ministers and wives, Shan State Chief Minister and wife, departmental officials, town elders, local ethnic people, national race cultural troupes and invited guests.
At the ceremony, town elder U Sai Yi Tip Pawong expressed thanks and pleasure to the SAC Chairman Prime Minister for the guidance. Then, SAC Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, council members General and officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Kengtung Haw Palace Replica Museum of Kengtung Saopha Sao Kawng Kiao Intaleng. Next, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister pressed the button to unveil the stone plaque of the museum and then sprinkled scented water on it. Later, the Senior General and party provided cash awards to the band and pompom dance troupes, national race traditional dance troupes, national race cultural troupes, and officials who built the museum.
Then, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and wife, and party interestingly observed the documentary photos displayed at the Kengtung Haw Palace Replica Museum. The Senior General then discussed gathering of more historical documentaries, systematic preservation of ancient utensils, and installation of glass for partitions to systematically keep the documentaries and instructed the officials to maintain the museum in generations.
Kengtung Saopha Sao Kawng Kiao Intaleng invited experts from India to build the Haw Palace in 1903 and it was completed in 1906. The building was decorated with Shan traditional and Myanmar architectural works influenced by European and Indian styles. It was the first-ever cement building in Kengtung. As per the requests of the relatives of the Saopha and residents in 2021, construction of the building started under the guidance of the SAC Chairman Prime Minister. Now, the building was successfully opened. Renovating historical buildings and religious edifices of national races show great historical traditions of the State and forge fraternity, trust, peace and stability and socioeconomic development of national races.
Following this, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party proceeded to Kengtung Airport. At the briefing hall of the airport, the Senior General heard reports on brief history and facts of the Kengtung Airport, and upgrading works of the runway and airport building presented by the SAC member Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo and officials. After hearing the reports, the Senior General fulfilled the needs regarding the reports, and left the instructions.
Later, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party inspected the site for new Kengtung Airport and upgrading works of the runway and left necessary guidance after hearing the reports.
