Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a ceremony to open the detour road in Kengtung, Shan State (East) on 11 May. Also present on the occasion were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, SAC members and wives, union ministers and wives, the Shan State chief minister and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the Triangle Region Command commander, departmental officials, and invited guests.
Next, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members and officials formally cut the ribbon to open the ceremony. The Senior General pressed the button to open the stone plaque of the Kengtung detour road, posed for documentary photos, presented cash awards to the band, pon pon troupe, traditional ethnic dance troupes and cultural troupes. Later, the Senior General and party inspected the Kengtung detour road.
The 23 feet wide and six miles long of Kengtung detour road is a tar-concrete one with the aim of reducing traffic congestion and facilitating commodity flow in the town of Kengtung, it is reported.
