SAC Members and Union Ministers Receive Mr. Abhay Thakur Ambassador of India to Myanmar

State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Defence Minister Admiral Tin Aung San, State Administration Council Member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein and Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung received Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur at the relevant ministries on 10 May.

  • During the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo and Indian Ambassador, they had a friendly exchange of views on cooperation in the transport and communication sectors between Myanmar and India and future activities.
  • During the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Union Defence Minister Admiral Tin Aung San and Indian Ambassador, they exchanged views on conditions that could continue to increase defence cooperation between Myanmar and India, the conditions of security cooperation in the border region of the two countries and issues related to training and education between two armed forces.
  • During the meeting between Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and Indian Ambassador, they frankly exchanged their views on Myanmar-India friendly relations and further promotion of bilateral cooperation.
  • During the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister U Win Shein and Indian Ambassador, they cordially exchanged views on banking and financing matters, payment for bilateral trade, loans, training for public financial management and insurance-related matters.
  • During the meeting between Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Indian Ambassador, they cordially exchanged views on the Myanmar-India border region development project according to the MoU signed by the two countries, the successful development of the projects implemented in Chin State and Naga Self-Administered Zone with India’s aid fund and outcomes, signing of a new MoU for the border region development project, the development of the border regions of the two countries and the issues related to further cooperation in various sectors.

Officials from the relevant ministries, Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Ashish Sharma and officials from the Indian Embassy also attended the meetings it is reported.
