Seizures of Narcotic Drugs in April 2024

Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs joining hands together with security personnel are putting an emphasis on anti-narcotic measures, and the seizures of narcotic drugs in April 2024 were as follows:

  • From 1 to 30 April, a total of 531 drug-related offenders including 447 males and 84 females were arrested along with a total of MMK41,989.264 million (over USD 19.994 million) worth of narcotic drugs: 319.78 kg of opium, 17.93 kg of heroin, 15,397,102 stimulant tablets, 0.001 kg of piece of stimulant tablets, 283.03 kg of ICE, 91.39 kg of marijuana, 1.51 kg of  concentrated poppy straw, 0.02 kg of low opium, 30.21 kg of poppy leaves, 38.36 kg of opium powder, 47.75 liters of opium syrup, 22,579 Ecstasy tablets, 22.33 kg of Ketamine, 176 liters of sulfuric acid, 33.74 kg of Happy Water, 16,000 kg of Ammonium Nitrate and 440 liters of Toluene were seized.

A total of 651 drug-related offenders were arrested across the country in March 2024. Along with them, a total of MMK28,693.41 million (over USD 13.663 million) worth of narcotic drugs were seized. Comparing to March 2024, more than K13,295.854 million (over USD 6.331 million) worth of drugs were seized in April.

The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and harsh legal actions are being taken against them under the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force, joining hands with security force members, are making further identification to apprehend drug-related offenders for the sake of elimination of narcotic drugs.
