K100 Billion worth of 5,000 Kilos (5 Tons) of Ice (Methamphetamine) Seized in Kyaukse Township

The combined team comprising Anti-Narcotics Task Force members are putting an emphasis on seizure of narcotic drugs and drug-trafficking. According to the tip-off, the combined team searched and seized the drugs as follows:

  • On 1 May, the combined team conducted a search on a NISSAN DIESEL 12-wheeler oil tanker, which was heading to Kyaukse from Ywangan, near Thanywar village on Ywangan - Han Myint Mo Highway in Mandalay region. The driver Min Min Khaing and his companion Aung Tun Naing ran away but both offenders were shot to arrest.
  • The combined team seized K100 billion worth of 5,000 Kilos (5 tons) of ICE (methamphetamine) in the two separate cabins of the truck.
  • According to the confession of the drug-related offenders, they had planned to transport the ICE (methamphetamine) to Yangon region from Shan state and then, the drugs will be traded to foreign countries via shipping lane.

Legal action has been taken against them under the law, and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify the chain offenders of drug-related crime, it is reported.
