A ceremony to sign Natural Gas Purchase and Supply Agreement for No. (1) Textile Factory (Shwetaung) between Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise under Ministry of Energy and No. (3) Heavy Industrial Enterprise under Ministry of Industry took place at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Energy on 6 May.
First, Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than delivered a remark as follows:
- With the joint venture of Tsuyatomo Co., Ltd of Japan, fabric painting processes are underway after waxing the white and brown clothes produced by No. (1) Textile Factory (Shwetaung). Weaving processes are also conducting for producing clothes at home.
- After receiving the natural gas, manufacturing processes can be enhanced as well as quality of product also improved. The natural gas sent by the Ministry of Energy can be effectively utilized.
Then, Union Minister for Energy added the points as follows:
- The pipeline only purposed for sending natural gas which is necessary for No. (1) Textile Factory (Shwetaung) through off-take in Yaynangyaung Town was established.
- As the natural gas and oil are extracted under restriction, it is necessary to utilize it effectively.
- The Ministry of Energy sends 30 cubic feet of natural gas to 12 factories yearly. If necessary, the ministry is ready to cooperate.
Present were Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Deputy Minister for Energy U Thant Sin, permanent-secretary, directors-general, managing directors and officials.
