Officials Conduct Works to Clean-up Debris from Damaged Houses and Roads blocked by Fallen Trees in the aftermath of Rain and Strong Winds in Mandalay and Sagaing Regions

On 2 May, old trees and some residential houses were collapsed and roads were blocked due to rain and strong winds in Mandalay and Sagaing Regions. As a result:

  • In Mandalay Region, palm and acacia trees fell off along the roadside of Kyaukpadaung-Meikhtila Road near Intaw Village of Kyaukpadaung Town.
  • Seven residential houses were unroofed and damaged in Sitha, Aungchantha and Min Khaung Taung Villages.
  • In Sagaing Region, 26 electricity poles and four telecommunication towers were collapsed and the old trees have fallen on residential houses in No (11) Ward of Monywa Town.
  • The old trees have fallen on residential houses in Ngaputaw Village of Monywa Town.

Relevant officials, township development committees and members of Fire Services Department conducted clean-up activities in a timely manner such as removing fallen trees that blocked the roads as well as fallen trees on the residential houses, and cleaning unroofed houses as well as collapsed electricity poles. However, no casualties to human and animal were reported.
