In Kawkareik, Kayin State, conflicts caused damage to houses, Myoma Market and the public hospital and dispensary in the neighbourhoods, prompting residents to move to other places temporarily. A total of 69,238 people of 11,019 households are living in 10,432 houses in seven Wards and Kawbein and Kawpauk villages in Kawkareik. The temporarily displaced people are returning to Kawkareik starting 27 April and a total of 387 temporarily displaced residents returned to their places on 2 May.
In order to facilitate the living of the returnees, the Kayin State government has provided each household with 8 pyis of rice, 50 ticals of oil, and ten packs of instant noodles. Moreover, the State Department of Natural Disaster Management is providing kits of 17 relief items to each household. Tatmadaw members, Myanmar police force members and members of fire brigades performed cleaning of debris in the wards, it is reported.
