Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony of Legal Advocacy Centre (LAC) of the Ministry of Legal Affairs in Zawana Theikdi Ward of Ottarathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory on 29 April.
First, SAC Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and council members, Union Ministers and officials cut the ribbon to formally open the archway of the center. Following this, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister pressed the button open the LAC and posed for documentary photos with the attendees.
Afterward, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister delivered a remark as follows:
- The law is essential for a country and it is a prescribed provision by which all citizens and people residing in the nation must abide.
- The Senior General took pride in emerging the newly-opened Legal Advocacy Centre which is beneficial for the State in widely disseminating legal knowledge to all and a beneficial venue for the State.
- As Myanmar is striving for strengthening the genuine, disciplined multi-party democratic system and building a Union based on democratic and federalism, all citizens have to understand the law. Hence, it is necessary to teach law subject and educate the people with legal knowledge.
- It needs to accumulate legal knowledge for initiating the peace and stability of the nation, the rule of law and the socioeconomic development of the people and administrative authorities need to be skillful in legal affairs for their management measures and follow the laws.
- All arts and science universities teach law subjects to confer BA (Law) degrees on graduates, and other significant universities give training to the students to get LLB degrees.
- Legal experts in Myanmar are urged to try hard to become international legal experts.
- Disseminating legal knowledge can contribute to forging the rule of law and justice as well as building a country free from corruption.
- It is necessary to appoint qualified law officers for successfully serving legislative, executive and judicial affairs with prestige, which are three pillars of the nation.
- The newly-opened center is a milestone of the Ministry of Legal Affairs as well as a symbol for the victory of disseminating legal knowledge.
- All are urged to enhance undertakings of better legal knowledge dissemination processes.
Later, Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo reported on undertaking legal affairs and conducting the legal knowledge courses. After hearing the reports, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and attendees observed round the centre.
Present at the ceremony along with the SAC Chairman Prime Minister were SAC Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and council members, Union-level dignitaries and Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, advocate-generals of regions and states, departmental officials and invited guests.
