Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;    

• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, spread false information on social media platforms claiming that Tatmadaw had used chemical gas bombs in Kawkareik Town of Kayin State, and terrorists and people suffered from dizziness and vomiting. It is just fabrication. In this regard, Tatmadaw did not use chemical gas bombs and they conducted anti-terrorism activities with the cooperation of locals.
• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, circulated fake news on social media platforms that around 80 people riding motorcycles were arbitrarily arrested and forcibly taken for military service in Pyu Township, Bago Region. It is just an allegation. In fact, the Tatmadaw had not taken such actions.
• “The Irrawaddy”, an unofficial media source, spread false information on social networking sites that security force members torched five villages in Myingyan Township, damaging more than 300 houses. It is just a false information. In reality, PDF terrorists taking positions in these villages launched heavy and small weapon attacks o the security forces conducting area security operations. As such, a clash took place at there and the PDF terrorists burnt down the residential houses along the way they retreated.

          Subversive media and those who do not wish to see peaceful situation are poisoning the entire populace with groundless information on social media platforms to feel frightened and hatred for security personnel and law enforcement organizations, reports say.
