The 9th Waxing of Tagu 1386 ME, on the occasion of the first day of Myanmar New Year which falls on 17 April 2024, the ceremonies of Paritta recitation and paying respect to elder people were held at Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Border Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Ministry of Ethnic Affairs. The events were attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent-Secretaries, Directors-General, staff officers and service personnel and officials along with their families and guests.
During the ceremonies, the attendees listened to the Mettā Sutta and Anantarika Kamawar recited by the venerable Sayadaws, donated cash for nine prerequisites and offerings to the monks and paid respect to elder people by providing cash in accordance with Myanmar Traditional Customs and released fingerlings.
Moreover, on the very first day of Myanmar new Year, venerable Sayadaws recited Parittas in the sky over Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory by helicopter for ensuring peace and prosperity of the people to be free from dangers. Likewise, it is reported that Paritta recitation ceremonies were also organized at Pagodas, towns, villages and road-junctions in respective regions/ states and the people donated offerings to members of Sangha.
