State Administration Council Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun Makes Clarifications on IEDs Explosion at the Site behind Mandalay Mayor’s Thingyan Pavilion in Chanayethazan Township of Mandalay Region

Two IEDs exploded at the Mandalay Mayor’s Thingyan Pavilion in Chanayethazan Township of Mandalay Region, resulting in 12 locals got injured including five children. In this regard, State Administration Council (SAC) Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun made clarifications on 14 April as follows:

• Regarding injuries to the innocent people and children, the State government will take effective legal actions against those terrorists after identifying as quickly as possible.
• The New Year festival is not solely a government affair but a communal celebration involving entire Myanmar citizens. The festival is also concerned with NUG and so-called PDF terrorists arriving in the jungle. It was found out that the NUG and its affiliated PDF terrorists conducted terror acts on the occasion of New Year festival. So, the entire people are required to condemn the said terrorist activities.
• Now, various organizations nationwide issued a statement of strong condemnation on the terror acts. But it is not enough just to condemn.
• At least, public are urged to cooperate with relevant security organizations and provide terrorist information to the security forces in order to eliminate the acts of terrorism and safeguard the prosperity and well-being of the people.
• It is found that some of people with wrong concepts support the NUG and PDF terrorists. Now, it can be clearly seen that how the NUG and PDF terrorists are what kinds of people and organizations.

In conclusion, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun added that the State government is deeply saddened by the injured locals and children. The injured persons will be received medical treatment at relevant hospitals, urging public to unite against terrorist activities to ensure prosperity of people.
