Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;

  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, spread propaganda on social media platforms claiming that passers-by in Minhla Township and Okpho Townships are being forcibly arrested for serving military service. It is just a vague rumor. In reality, security forces are conducting area security measures to prevent terrorists from operating in these townships and they are doing only patrol. No arrests of passers-by were reported.
  • “Today’s Era (Yanae Khit)”, an unofficial media source, alleged on social media platforms stating that the prisoners who are incarcerated in various prisons must be given money to include in the list of state's amnesty. It is just an allegation. In reality, Prisoner's Review Board just conduct the verification and selection process for the prisoners of amnesty or pardon in line with unbiased policies, without taking any consideration of any organizations and any individuals.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, circulated false news on social media platforms stating that the security forces shot and killed 3 people from Yathar village and burned down their houses. It is just an allegation. In reality, PDF terrorists shelled security forces and they retreated. While their way on retreat, they burned the houses and two terrorists were killed.

          Subversive media and terrorist organizations are poisoning the entire populace with groundless information all the time to disrupt all citizens’ chance to learning military knowledge in accordance with the laws. In this regard, state-run media are continuously broadcasting the news related to military service in order to prevent the youths going down the wrong path, reports say.
