Ceremony to Organize Final Rites of Presiding Patron of Naga Hnakaung Monastery in Tachileik of Shan State (East) Held

A ceremony to organize the final rites of Presiding Patron of Naga Hnakaung Monastery of Tachilek in Shan State (East) State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr. Bhaddanta Dhammasiri took place in Tachilek of Shan State (East) on 6 April.

          The ceremony was graced by members of the Sangha led by Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee (SSMNC) Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, and also attended by Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), departmental officials, and a large crowd of congregation including locals, town elders, relatives of the Sayadaw and invited guests.

          First, members of the Sangha opened the ceremony by reciting the Samvega Gahta (Buddhist chant) three times. Then, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and attendees took the Five Precepts from Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw. Afterward, the remains of the Sayadaw were covered with a diamond velvet and relevant Sayadaws read out the messages of condolences (Samvega).

          Later, the biography of the Sayadaw was read out. The congregation then donated discarded robes and offertories at the designated places dedicating to the Naga Hnakaung Sayadaw, and shared merits gained. Then, the remains of the Sayadaw were conveyed onto the incineration chamber and cremated with the recitation of three stanzas of Gatha on “Annicca Vata Samkhara”.
