K2 Billion worth of over 1 Million Stimulant Tablets Seized in Mandalay Region

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising members of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force searched a motorcycle driven by Paing Soe, accompanied by Ma Ei Ei Mon, near Kyaukchaw village, Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region on 23 March and seized 40,000 stimulant tablets along with them. On that day, they confiscated 5,800 stimulant tablets in the home of Paing Soe and Ma Ei Ei Mon. Following interrogations, authorities arrested Ma Sein (aka) Thet Htar on 24 March, Waing Aung Myint with a motor cycle in Chanmyathazi Township on 26 March, Kyaw Ye Thu together with 100,000 stimulant tablets on 26 March and Gaw Yon Singh at home.  

The authorities confiscated 860,000 stimulant tablets from Waing Aung Myint’s home in Ngwe Taw Kyi Gon ward of Pyigyidagun Township on 27 March. They arrested other drug-related offenders together with over one million stimulant tablets, valued at over K2 billion and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify the chain of drug-related offences, it is reported.
