Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;
- “Tachileik News Agency”, an unofficial media source, circulated rumours on social media platforms claiming that a woman living in Thingangyun Township of Yangon Region committed suicide and she was being hospitalized for undergoing medical attention as her son and son-in-law from the same family had been called up for military service. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, those two men just have been registered for military service as they are eligible for it under the law. Now, they are living at their home.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, spread false news on social media platforms alleging that authorities have arrested young people chosen by lot in ward (L) of North Okkalapa Township. It is just allegation. In fact, 11 voluntarily-proposed young people in the-said ward came to the administrative office in-person by car on 29 March to report for military service.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, alleged that some 50 civilians returning from the jobs in the evening have been arrested in the road segment of Sagaing-Mingon on 29 March and demanded a ransom of money. The media continued that the authorities have detained those, who could not give a ransom of money, for military service. It is just a groundless accusation. In reality, the Township General Administration Department staff and traffic police members are conducting checks on passers-by at certain places of Sagaing to educate vehicle and road safety standards to them and their observance of rules.
Subversive media and terrorist organizations are poisoning the entire populace with groundless information all the time to disrupt all citizens’ chance to learning military knowledge in accordance with the laws. In this regard, state-run media are continuously broadcasting the news related to military service in order to prevent the youths going down the wrong path, reports say.
