Due to the persuasion of the KNPP, KNDF and PDF terrorist groups, PNLO group joined them and have infiltrated the villages, where Pa’O ethnic people reside, Mae Nnal Taung region of Hopone Township in southern Shan State. Then the terrorists launched attacks on military outposts, headquarters of security personnel, arson attacks on the said-villages, killings of locals and looted valuables belongings of the people. Under this context, armed clashes broke out between security personnel and the terrorists. Hence, the local ethnic people have fled to safety from the villages.
Military personnel, joining hands with people militiamen (local) and local people, conducted 32-day long counter-terrorism operation in the region to restore peace and stability in the area. Since the situation is becoming peaceful and stable, local displaced persons are returning their villages.
- On 29 March, military personnel, police members and departmental personnel, people militiamen, local people conducted cleaning works at neighborhoods, religious buildings, health and education facilities, destroyed by terrorists, in Hsihseng Town and rehabilitation works.
- Maj-Gen Naing Naing Oo of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army), the commander of Eastern Command, officials met local people and departmental staff at the general administration department office and made a speech to them. Moreover, the officials coordinated the efforts, donated money for Mwetaw Pagoda and provided cash assistance to departmental staff and security personnel.
Retaking Hsihseng from the control of PNLO, KNDF and PDF terrorists and carrying out rehabilitation works are due to the collaboration and sacrifice of the local people with military personnel and people militiamen (local) for the region, reports say.
