A ceremony to pay respect to retired senior military officers attending the 79th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) was held at the parlour of Zeya Thiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on 27 March. At the ceremony, Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing spoke words of respect as follows:
- At present, the Tatmadaw has assumed the duties of the State in accordance with the 2008 constitution.
- Some ethnic armed organizations, with the excuse of ethnic and political causes, are committing terrorist acts.
- The Tatmadaw has to exercise restraint in accordance with the law for the non-disintegration of national unity and the non-disintegration of the Union.
- The Tatmadaw has been exerting efforts for building an everlasting, peaceful and stable union by enforcing the People's Military Service Law and the Reserve Forces Law due to the situation of the country.
- It is the fine tradition of the Tatmadaw to pay respect and express gratitude to seniors in accordance with Buddhist doctrine.
Then, the Senior General and wife and senior military officers and their wives paid respect to retired senior military officers on behalf of the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) in accordance with the Myanmar tradition and respectfully presented honorary gifts to retired senior military officers and their wives.
Then, the Senior General and senior military officers posed for documentary photographs together with the retired senior military officers and their wives.
Sixteen retired senior military officers and ten of their wives attended the ceremony, which was led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and attended by Vice Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, it is reported.
