Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;

  • “Mizzima”, an unofficial media source, spread propaganda on social media platforms claiming that a ward administrator demanded seven million kyats from an old woman to substitute another one for military service training list in Ingapu Township of Ayeyarwady Region as her grandson, who has already been listed, fled away. It is just a vague rumor. In reality, subversive media created such kind of fake news to frighten the public.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, spread propaganda on social media platforms stating that security personnel launched a drone attack on Kawlin of Sagaing Region, burning residential houses. It is just allegation. In truth, KIA and PDF terrorists taking position in Pan Tin village opened fire on security personnel conducting community peace and stability operation and then, the former set fire to houses in the village.

          Subversive media and terrorist organizations are poisoning the entire populace with groundless information all the time to disrupt all citizens’ chance to learning military knowledge in accordance with the laws. In this regard, state-run media are continuously broadcasting the news related to military service in order to prevent the youths going down the wrong path, reports say.
