State Administration Council Member, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received officials from UNOCHA at the relevant ministries in Nay Pyi Taw on 25 and 26 March. At the meetings, they discussed the matters as follows:
- During the meeting between Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San and the delegation led by UN Interim Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator to Myanmar Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi, they frankly exchanged views on issues related to the implementation of the People’s Military Service Law and the temporary relocation of UN staff working in Rakhine State.
- During the meeting between the Union Minster Dr. Kan Zaw and the delegation led by Mr. Sajjad Mohammad Sajid, OCHA Head of Office, Myanmar, they cordially discussed matters relating to the humanitarian assistance programme to be carried out in Myanmar.
- During the meeting between the Union Minister U Myint Kyaing and Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi, UN Interim Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator ai to Myanmar and his delegation, they frankly exchanged views on the status of visa and travel arrangements for the staff of United Nations agencies in Myanmar, temporary relocation of staff from United Nations agencies working in the region to Sittway, the temporary relocation and verification procedures for the UN staff holding the identification card (NV Card) due to the violent fighting of AA insurgents in northern Rakhine State, the delayed repatriation of IDPs in the current situation, and the work stoppage due to the ongoing engagement in the areas.
Union Ministers and officials, as well as representatives from the UNOCHA Myanmar office, were also present at the meetings, it is reported.
