Religious Title and Rice Offering Ceremonies for 2024 Held

A ceremony to present religious titles for 2024 took place in conjunction with a rice-offering ceremony at Agga Dipati Sasana Beikman in the Maravijaya Buddha Park on 24 March. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremonies and offer religious titles and rice.

Present were specially invited Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Thanlyin Min Kyaung monastery Sayadaw who led local and foreign Sayadaws and nuns who would be awarded religious titles. Present together with the Senior General and wife were SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, SAC members and wives, Union-level dignitaries, union ministers and wives, senior military officers and wives, officials and religious title recipient laypersons.

During the religious title conferring ceremony, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and officials offered religious titles to Sayadaws and the Senior General’s wife offered titles and insignias to two nuns.

The Senior General also presented Agga Maha Thiri Thudhamma Mani Jotadhara title and insignia to one man, and Thiri Thudhamma Mani Jotadhara title and insignia to two men. The Vice-Senior General presented Thiri Thudhamma Mani Jotadhara title and insignia to one man. The wife of the Senior General presented Agga Maha Thiri Thudhamma Theingi title and insignia to two women, and Thiri Thudhamma Theingi title and insignia to three women. The wife of the Vice-Senior General presented Thiri Thudhamma Theingi title and insignia to three women.

The State Administration Council has conferred religious titles on 421 members of the Sangha at home and abroad, 41 nuns and 47 laypersons in 2024 and at the ceremony held today, 108 religious titles and alms were conferred on Sayadaws and two Agga Maha Vacaka Pandita titles and alms were conferred on two nuns. Sasanugghaha titles insignias were conferred on 12 laypersons. Religious titles were also conferred on remaining title-winning Sayadaws and nuns and lay persons in relevant regions and states, it is reported.
