Matriculation Examination for Academic Year of 2023-2024 Conducted Peacefully

The matriculation examination of the academic year of 2023-2024 began on 11 March and it was conducted as scheduled;

  • On 13 March, the third day of the exam, a total of 128,705 students (about 87.84 per cent) sat for a Mathematics subject exam at  841 exam centres: 830 domestic exam centres across the country and 11 overseas exam centres;
  • On 14 March, the fourth day of the exam, a total of 111,471 students (about 88.56 per cent) sat for a Chemistry subject exam at  841 exam centres: 830 domestic exam centres across the country and 11 overseas exam centres;
  • On 14 March, the fourth day of the exam, a total of 17,208 students (about 83.33 per cent) sat for a Geography subject exam at  841 exam centres: 830 domestic exam centres across the country and 11 overseas exam centres;
  • On 15 March, the fifth day of the exam, a total of 111,462 students (about 88.55 per cent) sat for a Physics subject exam at  835 exam centres: 824 domestic exam centres across the country and 11 overseas exam centres;
  • On 15 March, the fifth day of the exam, a total of 17,207 students (about 83.32 per cent) sat for a History subject exam at  709 exam centres: 707 domestic exam centres across the country and two overseas exam centres;
  • On 16 March, the sixth day of the exam, a total of 45,125 students (about 93.08 per cent) sat for a Biology subject exam at  768 exam centres: 762 domestic exam centres across the country and six overseas exam centres;
  • On 16 March, the sixth day of the exam, a total of 83,510  students (about 85.18 per cent) sat for an Economics subject exam at  834 exam centres: 828 domestic exam centres across the country and six overseas exam centres;

        Union Minister for Education and other officials as well as Chief Ministers of regions/states encouraged students who are sitting the exam and inspected the status of exam in progress.

        Security personnel, health staff, fire-fighters and members of ward administration body have positioned themselves both inside and outside the exam centres to ensure the safety and tranquillity of the examination process in which the students sit the exam and provided foods to students, it is reported.
