Terrorists Launch Mine Attacks on Rail Segment under Upgrade Project along Yangon-Mandalay Railroad Track between Tawkywein and Kanyutkwin Stations

On 13 March, insurgents of terrorist launched remote mine attacks on new rail section for down trains  (milepost no. 120/2 and 120/3) under construction between Tawkywein and Kanyutkwin stations, in Kyauktaga Township of Bago Region. Consequently, the mine blasts damaged a 10-foot steel rail track and concrete sleepers. Reportedly, the damaged rail section for down trains will be repaired as soon as possible.

Since 1st February 2021 until now, insurgents of terrorist have planted 130 IEDs near railway areas and stations in Myanmar’s railway network, blown up 51 railway bridges, and set fire to stations and staff housings for 12 times.

The insurgents of terrorist have been conducting destructive acts such as destroying State-owned locomotives, railway carriages and commodities, affecting people’s lives and threatening travelers not to use rail transport with un-peaceful manners. Additionally, they have been intentionally committing brutal terrorist acts frequently on the work processes of Yangon-Mandalay railway improvement project with the intention of delaying work progresses. So, the local population strongly condemns the insurgents’ brutal terrorist acts, it is reported.
