Ethnic Youth Residents fleeing from the Hands of TNLA Entrusted to their Parents and Guardians

The TNLA has forcefully detained young ethnic residents to conduct military trainings and serve in the TNLA's military. Under these circumstances, those who do not wish to serve in the insurgent group have fled.

On 13 March, a ceremony was held at a military unit in Lashio, northern Shan State, to hand over four young ethnic residents who had escaped to their parents and guardians. During the event, officials provided one million kyats to each youth before handing them over to their parents and guardians, it is reported.
