Seizures of Narcotic Drugs in February 2024

Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs joining hands together with security personnel are putting an emphasis on anti-narcotic measures, and the seizures of narcotic drugs in February 2024 were as follows:

• From 1 to 29 February, a total of 674 drug-related offenders including 577 males and 97 females were arrested along with a total of MMK88,213.48 million (over USD 42.006 million) worth of narcotic drugs: 462.58 kg of opium, 70.41 kg of heroin, 12,074,066 stimulant tablets, 0.8 kg of piece of stimulant tablets, 2,897.48 kg of ICE (Crystal Meth), 291.47 kg of marijuana, 23.19 kg of concentrated poppy straw, 0.003 kg of low opium, 56.35 kg of opium leaves, 1.51 kg of opium powder, 4 liters of opium liquid, 23 Ecstasy tablets, 140 diazepam tablets, 5,600 alprazolam tablets, 5,800 tramadol capsules, 550 bottles of tramadol injectable drug, 62.89 kg of Ketamine, 21.52 kg of Happy Water, 0.12 liters of cough syrup, 5,000 kilos of caffeine, 16,400 liters of Methylamine, 1,200 liters of Sulfuric Acid, 560 liters of Hydrochloric Acid, 85,250.6 kg of Ammonium Nitrate and 12,400 liters of Benzyl Cyanide were seized.

The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and harsh legal actions are being taken against them under the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force, joining hands with security force members, are making further identification to apprehend drug-related offenders for the sake of elimination of narcotic drugs.
