On 10th March, terrorists blasted bomb on railway tracks on No (738) steel-deck bridge as well as concrete-deck bridge between the mile posts (353/24) and (351/1) between Kyaukse-Minsu stations along Yangon-Mandalay rail segment, Kyaukse township, Mandalay Region. The bomb blast broke up railway tracks on both bridges about 2 ft each, destroying concrete and wooden sleepers.
Regional officials and local security forces conducted the investigation at the site in real time and defused the unexploded mine, repaired the damaged railway section immediately.
From 1st of February 2021, terrorists and insurgents have vandalized the whole rail network: 130 bomb blasts in the area of railway stations; 49 bomb blasts on railway bridges; and 12 arson attacks on station structures and family housings for staff.
The Government is launching projects to upgrade railway transport system for convenient public travel and goods transportation. By contrast, terrorists and insurgents are threatening the people not to dare to use railway transport by repeatedly committing acts of vandalism on locomotives, carriages, passengers and goods. The entire local people are strong opposing and condemning such terrorist acts, said Myanma Railways source.
