Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context:
- “Khit Thit”, an official media source, created rumors alleging that security forces raid on Yaylethaung Village of Ngazun Towship and have detained all residents. It is just an allegation. In reality, security personnel are carrying out security operation to prevent terrorists’ violent acts in the village.
- “Shwe Phee Myay News Agency”, an official media source, circulated false information stating that authorities have demanded the list of 20 per cent of people living in each urban ward in Aungmyethazan Township for military service. It is just fake news. In truth, the Tatmadaw did not ever make arrests of people in any towns and villages for the purpose of military service.
In order to create public fear and create public misunderstanding, subversive media and those, who do not want community peace, put the blame on the security forces and create one-sided false/fake news on social media platforms, covering up the terrorists’ acts, it is reported.
