Opening Ceremony of a Seminar on Capacity Building for Rules of Origin of Upgraded ACFTA Held

The opening ceremony of a Seminar Programme on Capacity Building for Rules of Origin of the Upgraded ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) jointly organized by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) of Myanmar and Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of People’s Republic of China, was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw on 12 September.

At the ceremony, Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, highlighted that the seminar is aimed to introduce regulations under the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, to enhance the knowledge of departmental staff regarding product-specific regulations and Original Certificate Forms, to improve operational certification processes, to understand native regulations, and to promote trade facilitation.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Ministry of Commerce, representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Yangon, experts and representatives from AIBO, and 35 officer trainees from relevant ministries were present. The seminar will be held until 15 September 2023.
