Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo Delivers a Speech at 2/2024 Work Coordination Meeting of Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods

The Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods held its 2/2024 work coordination meeting at Union Government Office in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 March 2024, attended by State Administration Council (SAC) Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, who is in the capacity of the Chairman of the Central Committee. During the meeting, General Mya Tun Oo delivered a remark as follows:

  • The seizures of illegal fuel in regions and states in February 2024 were 3.81 tonnes valued at K12 million in Taninthayi Region and 10.464 tonnes valued at K35.992 million in Magway Region, totaling 14.274 tonnes of illegal fuel valued at K47.992 million.
  • In order to know the selling of fuel oil to public in a timely manner, CCTV link connections were also installed at eight fuel terminals and 591 fuel stations in regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, between 14 November 2023 and 29 February 2024.
  • Similarly, 542 CCTV cameras were installed at 52 tollgates in regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, to be able to know the passing of fuel bowser trucks in a timely manner.
  • The drafting of a software application has already been completed for public to easily access the sorts of fuel and prices from nearest fuel stations online, the pilot project will be initiated at over 300 fuel stations in Yangon and Mandalay regions.
  • Arrangements are being made to systematically distribute the edible oil in domestic market after scrutinizing the demands of edible oil in regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw, focusing on the price stability.
  • The country received export earnings of US$283.36 million, 321.80 million yuan and 876.15 million baht from 1,301 companies between October 2023 and February 2024.
  • It received only US$45.14 million, 109 million yuan and 187.67 million baht from 215 companies compared to the same period from October 2022 to February 2023. It showed an increase of US$238.22 million, 212.80 million yuan and 688.48 million baht received from 1,086 companies compared to the same period.
  • The ministries concerned have to supervise more exports so as to meet the target during the period of 2023-2024 FY.
  • Emphasis will be placed on preventing the delays in the trading sector, ensuring and facilitating the flow of trade and goods quickly, and promoting the export sector in the country. Therefore, the members of the central committee and officials are urged to join hands together.

Also present at the meeting along with the Chairman of the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods SAC Member were committee members and invited guests.
