Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context:

•  “The Irrawaddy-Burmese Edition”, an official media source, circulated misinformation claiming that security forces torched some villages in Kawlin Township and murdered three civilians. It is just a vague rumor. In reality, the incident took place because KIA and PDF terrorists shelled security forces that were clearing mines and conducting rehabilitation tasks in Kawlin. The strayed shells fired by terrorists landed in the villages and made casualties of some people.
• “Shwe Phee Myay News Agency”, an official media source, alleged that security forces threatened the residents to leave the villages located at the border between Myingyan Township and Natogyi Township and forcibly took valuable goldwares and silverwares away. It is just an allegation to degrade security personnel. In truth, security forces are conducting security measures to prevent the PDF terrorists’ movements in towns/villages of Mandalay Region. 

In order to create public fear and create public misunderstanding, subversive media and those, who do not want community peace, put the blame on the security forces and create one-sided false/fake news on social media platforms, covering up the terrorists’ acts, it is reported.
