Martial Law Order Issued in Shan State under Area of Northern Command

In order to effectively provide security, the rule of law and community peace, the State Ad­ministration Council has transferred the executive and judicial power (Martial Law) to the Commander of the Northern Command to exercise martial law in Mantung, Namhsam and Namtu Townships of northern Shan State under the area of Northern Command, according to Martial Law Order 3/2024 and 4/2024 on 4th of March.

Depending upon the changing situation in the region, the commander shall exercise Martial Law by himself or shall transfer the power to the regional military commanders. From February 2021 to 4 March 2024, there have been 61 townships where Martial Law order has been issued, it is reported.
