State Administration Council (SAC) Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San, in his capacity as Chairman of the Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants, attended the 2/2024 work coordination meeting of the central body which was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Defence in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 March. During the meeting, Admiral Tin Aung San delivered a speech as follows:
- The working committee for Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and rules compiling were organized with 15 members including Judge-Advocate General as chairman.
- The third draft of the rule was completed after two meetings. The SOPs were also drafted by cooperating with the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
- The Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants organized the chairman’s office of the central body which was led by Deputy Minister for Defence on 21 February; township, district, self-administered zones and self-administered division committees for summoning people’s military servants on 22 February, eight working committees regarding People’s Military Service Law on 24 February; IT and record task force and settlement committee for people military servants in relevant posts on 25 February.
- The relevant committees for people’s military servants arranged the training schools that can provide continuous training.
- In order to provide true news and not to cause misconceptions among public, the sending of Short Message Service (SMS) about the People’s Military Service Law by four Mobile Operators started from 21 February 2024.
- The Ministry of Information has already distributed 100,000 pamphlets on awareness of People’s Military Servants to the public through the authorities of the regions and states with free of charge while some regions and states government themselves managed to distribute the pamphlets to the public free of charge.
- MRTV, MWD, Radios, TV Spot, articles, editorial and announcement by the leader of SAC Information Team also provide the public information concerning the People’s Military Service Law.
Next, the Vice-Chairman of Central Body Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye and officials discussed about the measures to systematically carry out the processes of summoning people’s military servants, and to implement accurately within the scheduled time, and the drafting of SOPs and the People’s Military Service Rule (third draft). Then, the Chairman of the Central Body gave concluding remarks.
Also present at the meeting were the Vice-Chairman of Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Secretary of the Central Body Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Soe Min Oo, members of the Central Body union ministers, and chairpersons of the committees for summoning people’s military servants and officials, it is reported.
