On 5 September, the locomotive driver of No (6) down passenger train heard the sound of an explosion around 2:30 a.m. when the train arrived south of Painzalote Station near Taw Wi Station. Therefore, he kept driving the train with special attention and the train passed the Painzalote Station at 3:23 a.m. When the train reached the milepost (99/8-7) between Painzalote Station and Tawwi Station at around 3:32 a.m., the locomotive driver came across the scene in which railway tracks were broken and cut off in the aftermath of mine explosions carried out by terrorist terrorists and managed to stop the train in time. He then had to drive back the train to the Painzalote station. The railway segment has been closed since 4:10 a.m.
When the scene was investigated, it was found that around 80 feet of railway track was cut off and curled, 14 sleepers were damaged, and around 3 feet of concrete floor of the ten-foot-long bridge were also damaged in the aftermath of two mine explosions. As Myanmar Railway made necessary repairs as quickly as possible, and all train trips resumed at about 11:15 a.m.
Up to 5 September since 1 February 2021, terrorists have committed 125 mine attacks on railway tracks and in the areas of rail stations, 45 mine attacks on rail bridges and 12 arson attacks on railway stations and family housings of civil servants inflicting damages on railways, rail bridges, locomotives and train carriages, and also causing loss of goods and unnecessary delays on travel. Therefore, the people are disgusted by the terrorist insurgents who are deliberately committing such acts of destruction, it is reported.
