Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;
- “DVB TV News”, an unofficial media, circulated the false information that security personnel are making arrest of young people in Mawlamyine and gaining money from extortion. Another rumor is that authorities are making list of people for military service in the Ayeyawaddy Region. These are just fake news. In reality, security personnel are currently conducting local security operations in the townships and villages.
With the purpose to cause public panic, subversive media abetting terrorists and those who disturb community peace and tranquility are spreading one-sided misinformation on social media platforms that security personnel forcibly arrested people. Again, those media are creating fabrication to make the youths join the terrorist organizations as well as the people feel hatred for the Tatmadaw, it is reported.
