Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win received the delegation led by the Chief of International Organization of Migration (IOM) Mr. Dragan Aleksoski at the ministries’ reception hall on 29 August.
- During the meeting with Union Minister for Health, they discussed the collaborative maternal and child healthcare initiatives between the IOM and the Ministry of Health, along with activities related to nutrition development. Additionally, they explored ways to enhance cooperation in preventing and treating malaria, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted diseases. The conversation also touched upon matters concerning the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), as well as the potential for increased cooperation in healthcare endeavors across Mon, Rakhine, and Kayin States.
- During the meeting with Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, they discussed migrant worker issues between Myanmar and neighboring countries and providing assistance to victims of human trafficking, reducing losses and damages by the disasters and reintegration of trafficked persons in the community, participations of IOM in the humanitarian assistance programs for the cyclone victims in Rakhine State together with UN organizations, INGOs in cooperation with the government under the coordination of UNOCHA and entry visa issues of foreign employees from IOM.
The meetings were attended by the Union Ministers together with deputy ministers, permanent Seretaries, directors-general from relevant departments and officials.
